OPs are warmly invited to the Pocklington School Foundation (PSF) Careers & Business Network event, due to be held at York Mansion House, St Helen’s Square, York at 6.00pm on Thursday 31 March. As well as a great opportunity to network with other members of the Pocklington School community, we are pleased to have two OPs as our guest speakers at the event.

After four years at the London offices, Sam transferred to their Sydney operation, becoming Director in PwC Australia's tax practice. Sam moved back to the UK with his family in 2019 and is now Managing Director of his own company, BurtonWeston Ltd, providing consulting services to leading professional services firms. He has held a number of senior roles across BT, Cisco, TiVo and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in a career that spans almost 20 years, working with clients to deliver their business challenges with digital solutions.
Now at AWS, Matt leads the UK business which helps clients migrate to AWS to help deliver modernisation services to innovate their businesses. Matt is passionate about the transformational value of technology and enabling businesses to succeed in the digital world.
We are delighted to be hosting this event at York Mansion House, which was purpose built in 1732 to provide a place for the Lord Mayors to do their ‘public business’. This has included entertaining influential visitors to York, including the Prince Regent, Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II. The Lord Mayor still takes residence here, welcoming leading businesses to meetings and functions in its impressive rooms.
At the event our Headmaster, Toby Seth, will host a Q&A session with Sam and Matt to discover what led them into their chosen careers, their experiences of working in global teams, the impact of technology on how we do business, and the challenges and opportunities they have had along the way. The Q&A session will then be followed by networking and refreshments.
If you would like to join us for this event, please register as soon as possible by Thursday 24 March at the latest by clicking the button above. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Joining instructions will be issued a few days before the event.
The Network is open to everyone in the wider Pocklington School community, including current and former parents, Old Pocklingtonians, current and former staff and supporters. Its aims are to help each other thrive in a highly competitive world and, by working together, to help instil the Pocklington School values in each other. If you haven’t already joined the Network, at this event you will be able to find out how to do so, as well as enjoying a great evening of networking.
